BEING a SINGER slash MUSICIAN

Halluu-halluu..!

MORNING GLORY for planet Earth!

This time, I wanted to explain to you about me being a singer / musician! My most passionate Job in my whooole life!^^ I mean, seriously, you just can’t separate me with music dude, cuz if you do – I’m just gonna struggle to fight it back! Go ranger natnat! >_< (lebaaaaay)

Anyhoo, it has been a rocky road for me to be able to sit here and feel my true color of music. Believe me, I’ve been thru ups and downs till I get to be here, in my music position, I mean. It’s haaaard you know….!! XO

But you know what? No matter how hard it is, I just can never feel tired for facing that, I never feel ‘had enough’ for waking up again and again if I went thru some down-points, because I LOVE THIS JOB!

Choose a Job you Love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life!” – Confucius.

I dig it, Con. I do. Peace yo.

Sooo, maybe I’ll start it from where it began. Pro’lly since I was around 7-ish. I always listened to my dad singing with his guitar (there was no keyboard back then), and he used to sing some Pance songs, Broery songs, KoesPloes, etc..

Widuri… Elok bagai Rembulan… Oh Sayang… - Broery Marantika / Pesolima.

And I also listened to my mom karaoke with Mariah Carey’s tape ( yes, not CD, nor DVD, it’s a tape!)

I can’t live…! ..iflibilibidadyu..! - Mariah Carey, I guess…

And a little version of me (me as a kid) was interested on that. So I took the mic, and I started to sing some Mariah Carey songs, Whitney Houston, even Celine Dion (yep, I aim for the toughest ladies, ehehe).. And you know what? My family loved it and they proud of me! Yiaay!^o^

I remember my very 1st performance back then. I was forced to sing in some ‘Kenaikan Kelas’ event @ my school by my mother. I was still a cute shy ‘not little’ girl who didn’t have a gut to sing in front of lots of peeps (not like I am now. I know!!). yet, I kept singing a song called:

Mamaaaa… Kembalilah Padaku….! - anonym.

And you know what? They loved it! They complimented my performance, saying that I have a huge talent for that! So I was happy and excited! From that day, I made SINGING becomes my 1st passion ever!!..

I went thru lots and lots of competition. Losing or winning, I don’t care! (although, mostly I got the winning part, ehem! Sombooooooooong).. seriously, as long as I kept singing from the heart, then I’m happy to do that!

When I first got in to my Senior High School, I remember that I was on my orientation days (before the school begin), and I got to sing (and forced myself up) to be brave singing @ a school hall, in front of everybody in school, representing for my Class 1-8. I was singing, The Pretenders – I’ll stand by you and Chantal K – Leaving on a Jet plane.

AND EVERYONE LOVED IT AGAIN! Teachers, all students from 1st grade to 3rd grade, they just clap their hands appreciating my performance. I was relieved, finally I got a chance showing my true ability to everybody. :D Thank God!

Because of that performance, I was asked to join with a School Choir, PSS – PADUAN SUARA SMANSA. And from that activity, my experience of singing career has been taking to a more serious path.

PSS - The left corner is me singing in a yellow dress with a pink veil and the dudes wearing a blue shirt, what a COLORS!! -_-;

Besides doing some choir, I also did some band things back in my school days. Here are some of the pictures, me performing with my schoolmates. :D

Me singing – SHUT UP by BEP with my 3C1 class mates! Looking so fashionable, huh?? Lol…

Miss this moment! ^o^

Me with senior dudes, having a gig @ Cipanas(I kinda had a crush with a glasses guy back there, he’s the drummer btw, ihihihi)

Anyhooooo,

After school, back in my campus time, I didn’t have much time dealing with music stuffs again, I was too busy thinking about having good grades @ Campus (and finally I did have a good grade, ehehe.. – somboooooooong). But then, in a year of 2006, I met with my old friend, ANTON, and he asked me to joing him to sing in a café, so I took his offer right away! From him, I was met with A dimaz, and then we had our first gig back @ Rumah Nenek. And I loved it!

Me with Anton (the red dude) and A dimz back there @ Rumah Nenek.^^

@ PHDC, Campus event. Me looking so admiring Anton, lol…

Anyhoooo (again and again)...

Things were not going so well between us, so one thing leads to another.. A dimz made me meet with his 2 friends, Adit and A Gondz, they wanted me to help them performing @ Neo-Calista. So I did. I played with’em, and you know what, the chemistry did really work with us! I was happy having a gig with them! And so, we came to a final and called ourself as DJIMBE – Disini Jiwaku Ingin Menyanyi Bersama. – A Dimz.

These are several events that we went together.

Me having so much fun @ a stage with DJIMBE. Yiaaaaay!! (just look how curvy I was – am, whatever!) lol…

But then, time is passing by, the guys were too busy minding their own business until they abandoning the so called Reggae Band – DJIMBE. I was so sad and disappointed, cuz we’ve been thru so many events together with fun! But you know what? It didn’t make me stop fighting back for my own music! I need to find other Soul of Music!!

So, I asked my pals @ Campus for helping me having a gig @ Kongkow’s Café. And we did quite well.. but you know what, they’re my pals, I was happy playing wth’em though! :D So, we called our self as BOSSA.

Opeck, Rangga and Me @ the front (still, the curvy one! Lol..)

And then, we thought that we had to have a real guitarist for us, so we meet Polin.

Bossa + Polin, the guitarist! And me on a new looks!!.. too shoooort!>_<

But then again… sigh*

One thing always leads to another.. I really thought it’s the best way for me to create some band with a more serious type of guys. Guys who have as biggest passionate as I am in Music World. So, Polin asked me to meet with Dika and Hegar, these are all the guys from my recent band, SistaR = Sister as Star.

And you know what? The Chemistry was going back again! We really hit it off reaaal nice!!..

These are some pictures of us together:

SistaR – in with the sound of Music!

Guys @ SistaR (look @ me thiner! Yieeaay!)

Right now, I was blessed to still have a chance building up my true music. I hope I can make it thru the right path of this passion of mine! Because I do love SINGING, and no one can’t take that away from me, even though there are lots of challenges or troubles heading my way thru successful, to come to a Promise Land.. I still believe in my heart, that I can make it.

By believing in your heart.. you know that you are on your way to catch your own dream. :D - natalia pratiwi

Wish me a very good luck, peeps XD

BEST REGARD,
